Guest guest
Dong quai helps. There are also several homeopathic remedies for cramps. Check it out at your local health food store. Myra
Guest guest
Sat nam everyone, this is for people who are familiar with herbal medicine or the such. Does anyone know of any herbal pills I could take for menstrual pain? Sorry i had to ask because I only put herbal things in my body and was wondering if any women are familiar with an herb or something that helps calm menstrual pain especially during the first days (really hurts). I used to take advil but prefer not to now. love light peace, maria. SAT NAM Get email alerts & NEW webcam video instant messaging with Messenger. Normally, castor oil compresses are recommended before and after the periods. A great deal of rest, too! Take care, Chama
Guest guest
Hi maria, I am only in my first semester of herbs so don't know that many except for the ones for external cold. A couple old favorites that some people sware by are dong gui and also pearl powder. these of course are not for immediate relief though. you may want to prior to your period be sure that you keep your lower abdomen warm, stay de-stressed (free of liver qi stagnation), don't eat anything cold or raw, and processed sugar including cold drinks. any of these will tend to cause cramping, and clots in the menses.also, if you place a ball (golf ball, or something like that) under your lower back (sacral) at the area where it hurts it will relieve the cramping somewhat including the lower back aches associated with it. hope this helps, Sat Nam, melanie On Sat, 08 September 2001, mgb wrote: > Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit > Kundaliniyoga > Delivered-acupuncture.com%meljomyerrs > Delivered-mailing list Kundaliniyoga > X-Sender: mgbaraybar > Received: (cpmta 28049 invoked from network); 8 Sep 2001 09:35:47 -0700 > Received: from n31. Guest guest
Dear Maria, Cramp bark is available and will quickly relieve cramps if taken as a tisane- a hot tea. I am a herbalist and homeopath and would recommend cramp bark for immediate relief. Guest guest
Sat Nam, I've been a bit behind in my email, but from what I can see no one has mentioned the yogic aspect of menstrual cramps. In the book _The Gift of Giving Life, volume 2_ there is a set for premenstrual tension release. It says that as a part of a woman's cycle the overies lift and tighten, then release with the menstrual flow. When the tensing of the overies happens, sometimes the woman does not let the tension go, and holds on, thus causing cramps and such. The set is good. It is fairy difficult. I don't know how I could share it with you right now since our scanner isn't working and I think it would be good to have the pictures. Someone else mentioned lots of rest, and I think this is very important too. Our society often scoffs at the very idea of a woman taking it easy before and during her period since it may suggest that woman are "weak", but that is not the truth. It is a sacred, inward cleansing time, and the break is really a gift for women who often never get breaks.
