Guest guest
As a person that practices yoga, and a former member of the Army of our great nation, it is hard to agree with many of the posts I've seen so far. I may not be current on my Sikh history, but didn't the Sikhs themselves have to fight against Moslem persecution in India? While I don't believe in any of our foreign policies that violate the affairs of a sovereign nation, one has to wonder what this world would be like if the Soviet Union had succeeded in it's quest to convert the world to communism, a godless, human oriented religion. Or would it be better to have a world where women are treated like possessions and denied access to education and careers? The individuals who committed these atrocities, and their fellow cell members, will not quit until the U.S. is exterminated. Our choices have been exhausted. Guest guest
Sat Nam: Yes, Sikhs had to fight against muslim persecution in India but you should remember that Mardana, Guru Nanak Ji´s best friend, was a Muslim. The Islam that most people know is the islam that you see on TV, which is a wrong interpretation of it. Sikhi accept other religion, is part of their code of conduct, is wrong for a Sikh to judge other religions. Siri Guru Granth Sahib has in their pages some writings of other saints as hindus and muslims. Please dont permit the anger take your heart, that is why we practiced Kundalini Yoga, you can make a different world. There is no Muslim-Sikh-Hindu-Catholic-Jew, we are all human, we are all the same. As a Sikh I have to fight against injustice, against tirany, against the opressor, not against the innocent. Guest guest
Beautifully put. Thanks for sharing. Guru Nanak in his own life did not make any distinctions between religions or castes. His life is an example of charity, kindness, and generosity towards all. Guest guest
Sat Nam, The way I practice, in my own mind, is that whenever I hear horrible things about Islam I remember the Sufis, who are heart masters and part of Islam. There are a lot of horrible things and a lot of wounded people in the Islamic world. There is often a lack of good leadership. It is also a fact that many Islamic countries grew up too fast, having gone from relative poverty to great wealth in one generation and this has created a whole range of difficulties. I think that if we apply compassionate communication to our own thought process we will not judge but will simply try to understand, accept and influence positively when the opportunity arises. We should pray for such an opportunity.
