National Service Day of Prayer and Remembrance also gave a message of hope to people living under terror.

>From what I'm hearing of the words of Bush, Collin Powel and others in the

US gov't Administration, they're only intending to go after the Taliban and

those directly responsible around the world. I've also heard them mention

the plight of the Afghanistan people, their poverty and their suffering

under that regime.

It's clear to many people (not only from what we hear from the Bush

Administration) that some of the Islamic Fundamentalist Regimes that have

come into power in the name of God, have inflicted a totalitarian terrorism

on the people of the nations they've taken over (such as Iran), similar to

where they are the new Hitlers and Nazi powers over the Jews spreading

destruction and hate in the world (WWII) or Pol Pot over the Cambodians

(part of the Communist philosophy of eradicating progressive thinking

through the Gulag under Stalin). In this case the people of these counties

longing for the freedom that we have in America live in constant fear of

every word or action, where only the vilest of people and tendencies in acts

against others are able to rise in these Regimes.

We're hearing more and more really a lot of irresponsible people being

posted up on the screen of CNN and a few other. Maybe it's CNN's idea

generating viewers by promoting hate and controversy and chaos in the

thinking of viewers.

But, if you saw the National Service "Day of Prayer and Remembrance"

provided without commentator commentary on CNBC, it seemed very clear from

all the prayers given, including those of the President of the United

States, that this wasn't an orientation towards countering the WTC Terrorist

disaster by inflicting mass murder on innocents. There was a clear

recognition of the suffering of those innocents under the terror of these

hate regimes.

I think from what we do hear from the President and Secretary of State and

others in the Administration (versus from the media's talking heads), we can

expect something more surgical and strategic and carefully planned than a

mindless WWIII or mass counter destruction from President Bush and Congress,

but also more thorough to eliminate the ability for those that assist in

Terrorism financially, with weapons, with land to train terror cells, and in

many more direct ways, but also to create a more positive support for those

that are the opposition within these terrorized countries promoting or

supporting Terror upon the world and to their people, such as the terror

being inflicted on the horrific lives of the people living under the

totalitarian regime of the Taliban in Afghanistan or Saddam in Iraq. We'll

also see (as Bush and Collin Powel have both carefully stated) that there

will be a concerted effort to eradicate the network of terror cells that is

spreading throughout the world - this would also mean from Chechnya and

Afghanistan and others that are now infiltrating into countries like

Malaysia and Indonesia to take the spiritual power for good from the

peaceful Islamic leaders and turn it to evil.

I think that in the National Service "Day of Prayer and Remembrance" there

was a clear message about this careful approach.

We are what we think. It seems very clear that this careful and caring

approach is the thinking of the leaders of America.

Thank you Pieter for your sane words. I have been horrifed by the way

people are mis-interpeting and twisitng the words of the leadership. I

would say to those who advocate turning the other cheek - what would you

do if a terrorist broke into your house and threatened your life and the

lives of your dear ones ? Would you turn the other cheek and let them

get on with it if there was some way you could save your family ?

.. I think people need to realize that whatever mistakes this country has

made in the past , it still does not deserve what happened. Two wrongs

do not make a right. Terrorists, wherever they come from, decide what

the rest of us need and go out and use every concievable horror to force

their view on the rest of us. They need to be stopped. They have no

mandate from the people they pretend to represent.

Love to all,

Avtar K.
