I was reading a book by sister Gurrattan Kaur-and i came across a

section which talks of deep mediation using the shabad SAT-NAM.It

guides you through drawing breath through the nose on SAT-and

releasing through NAM.I need guidance on two matters -1.do you

breathe out the mouth or nose. 2.in order to control breathing to

every 15sec-do you hold breathe before slowly releasing.

I accept this will be trival and basic to you all-but forgive me -for

im of low understandingt coompared to you practioners.

Hi:

I am also new on the path and looking to gather as much information as I can.

Please send me the name of the book you are reading and where I can purchase

it. Also, I am looking for beginning tapes on KY. Any suggestions.

Hi Pat,

I have used Nirvair Khalsa's "Yoga for Beginners" for awhile. It is a 6 tape

series, 12 volumes, and indeed, they are simply wonderful. He and

2 students

go through breathing, stretching, kriya, and pranayam basics; at times, one or

both of the students demonstrate modified versions of the more

challenging exercises. Perhaps this sounds like an outright advertisement, but

actually, it is an honest endorsement. You might try going on

http://www.kundaliniyoga.org for links to other video series (e.g., Ravi Singh).

Good luck on your search.

Hello Pat:

Take a look at lesson #7 from:

kundalini yogakyt07.html

For me this lesson was relevant to where I should

start to work with.

Out the nose always unless otherwise stated.

If you need to to complete the 15 sec cycle. Over time your breath will slow

down and you will be holding it less and less to make up the 15 sec.

Doing Breath of fire in any posture will help make the breath longer and

deeper.

be easier and eventually automatic.
