Guest guest
To Gordon, or anyone else who can answer this question, What are trailers and how do you delete them. If you are referring to to all the stuff at the bottom of the letter, whenever I have tried deleting it I delete the whole letter. Can you help? Guest guest
Hi Mark Thank you for your question. Perhaps this is a problem of which we have been unaware up until now, but nobody else has thought of asking it. Message trailers are all the advertising stuff that appears at the end of every message to the list. If you check at the end of this message you will see that there are two sets of trailers, as I have deliberately left them in as an illustration. Now if you imagine what it is like for folk on digest mode who perhaps receive 20+ messages in one mailing, and that mail might contain 40+ sets of trailers, and they have to wade through all this stuff trying to find the interesting bits, then you may begin to understand the problem. Now to attempt to answer to your question about removing them. After you hit reply to a list message, you are then presented with a copy of the original message, and depending on the settings of your email program, each line of this may well be preceded by quote marks - by convention ">" You can edit the original message while you are composing your reply, and should take this opportunity to remove all text not directly relevant, and this includes all the message trailers. I think that perhaps you are trying to delete the trailers on the original message before you hit the reply button, which will explain why you are deleting the entire message. I hope this answer helps you and anyone else who is struggling with this problem. If you have any further queries, please reply to me on list, so that once more others can benefit from this discussion. Sat Nam! Guest guest
Hello, If I can just add something to Gordon's message... If you are wondering how to edit or delete parts of the message, just hilight the parts that you want to delete with you mouse by holding down the left click button on the mouse while you are passing the mouse over the unwanted text...once it is selected...just hit the delete button on your keyboard. Voila! (I know this may seem obvious to many, but for some people who are not always on a computer, little tricks like this are not "in the manual", per say..) that's all....... ///(*_*)\\\ _______________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
