Guest guest
Sat Nam, thank you Michael, you are very right. I'd like to share a little more about this. Actually it's a question and see what feedback I can receive from all of you. As I try to learn the art of compassion by the experience of going out in the world and realizing that every personality and outer human image I see is also me (boy that was a long sentence), all my unconscious sub-personalities are starting to come to the surface again...like when I was experiencing severe depression not long ago. As they come out I try to talk to every personality and affirm consciously "I love you, I'm here to love you, I know you need love and I'm finally here to give it to you, I'm strong now." OK, so I'm doing that. Yet, I have a question. Do I let them out completely and just let them live or is it a good idea to start meditating right when they come out and continue with these conscious affirmations? For example, the over-eater came out today and right now I'm on my way to getting another sandwich, I'm letting this personality live. But still i dont want to get out of control, it's like if I bring out the alcoholic or drug-addict in me, do I let this reality come out again? I was thinking, these personalities all represent this inner child that needs love so that is what it REALLY needs, not drugs, or food, or beer, or cigarrettes. THis is the toughest thing I've ever had to do in my life...to love all these human realities. I decided I'm going back to therapy, not because I'm helpless this time, i mean i know i have Essence inside me to heal me and love me now, but just to guide me in releasing my unconscious realities and to learn how to love them. Any feedback would be really appreciated. Thank you so much and I love you all, ALL. love light peace, maria. SAT NAM Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help? Guest guest
Hi Maria, As a person who had great struggles in the past with addictions I would say that yes, we certainly have to love, recognise and accept all parts of ourselves, but that doesn't mean giving in to negative tendancies. It's much like loving a naughty child - we love that child to pieces and accept them for who they are, but we don't allow them to contiue with destrutive behaviour. I have found that stretch pose is a great help and I do it for three minutes every morning before I do anything else. It is a very challenging pose for me but has helped enormously. According to tantric numeroloy the lower triangle is my challenge in life - you might want to look up the site (someone gave it here recently) and find out what yours is. Hope this helps. Guest guest
.. i.e. the > fear is also the protector. Hi Gururattan Kaur Please would you say a little more on this profound statement. It recalls to mind a statement you make somewhere in one of your books about fear, sadness and anger being the lions that guard the gate to the heart. It seems very useful to find a way to transform the fear in this way; what would sadness be if anger is action? Much love Ravi Kaur
Guest guest
Hello Maria, You have said a mouthful in your post, and I too am continually struggling with personalities (as you call them) within me that surface and resurface. I always ask when will it end? I think giving into the various vices only perpetuates them, and struggling to end them by eliminating them and practicing the virtues is what I have found to be an answer. Some of my greatest triumphs within have been when I have struggled to overcome my vices. Years will pass and they resurface. I have allowed them to take over again, and now I am re-establishing the path of yoga, so as to triumph over them. That is why I have joined this group. Tina. - > Maria wrote, Yet, I have a question. Guest guest
Dear Tina and Maria I too am continually struggling with personalities (as you call them) within me that surface and resurface. Yogi Bhajan says we each have 16 personalities. >I always ask when will it end? It won't but we can transform the energy and direct to more productive uses. I think giving into > the various vices only perpetuates them, and struggling to end them by > eliminating them and practicing the virtues is what I have found to be an> answer. I still think embrasing the power in them is useful. Afterall these are all energies in ourselves. They can be our allies. Some of my greatest triumphs within have been when I have struggled > to overcome my vices. That is empowerment. It feels good! Years will pass and they resurface. I have allowed > them to take over again, and now I am re-establishing the path of yoga, so> as to triumph over them. That is why I have joined this group. Delighted you have joined us. Yoga means unity, with the Divine in ourselves. Our goal is to unify all 16 (or whatever :+) monkeys that are really the powerful aspects of our souls. SAt Nam and Peace, Gururattan Kaur
