Guest guest
Roger & Laura [rljanes] In Kundalini yoga is it okay to use the OM meditation or will it interfere with the Kundalini rising. Hi, it's funny...about 6 am, and I run across this email and decide to answer it while later realizing that you were talking about meditation and not medication. I decided to leave this part in as there must be a reason why I wrote this and perhaps will be of benefit to someone. 1) I don't know if anyone answered your question on this so here it goes. OM meds (Chinese herbs) are usually prescribed for the whole body in order to bring it back into balance. If the body works better then everything works better and allows for Kundalini progress that much easier. We strive on balance(homeostasis) in all parts of our lives and when our mind, physical body, and emotions are under our control it is easier for spiritual progress as well. The Qi flows easier creating more opportunity for spiritual progress/Kundalini to rise because we also are consciously doing something to get over illness(our Karma/a blockage). It actually helps us along on our path, that is what is so nice about most alternative medicine. it works with you and not again you on your path to spiritual enlightenment. That is why I chose the field I did acup.,herbs, tui na, external healing. it has made much more sense to me and compliments my lifestyle right along with KY. Sat Nam, Melanie 2) When speaking of OM meditation, I believe your are speaking of Qi gong? it is quite beneficial and similar in many ways to KY, so I would consider it a compliment. here is a link that describes the differences and similarities of the two. http://www.list-server.net/kundalini/kurt/k-faq.html#5 If there is any contemporary teaching that is even more diverse in approach than Kundalini yoga it must be qi gong. As a result it is hard to compare Kundalini yoga to qi gong. From my limited exposure to qi gong it is clear there are many qi gong practices that are identical to Kundalini yoga practices. What is also clear is that may qi gong practitioners have reported experiences that are identical to those of Kundalini yogins. In so far as each of these practices aims at eliminating blocks to the qi/prana energy then they share a common ground. Hope this helps, Sat Nam, Melanie
Guest guest
This is in response to the question of whether OM meditation would interfere with Kundalini. I would suggest using ONG in lieu of Om as it means God in the manifested state rather than the unmanifested state (OM). When stated allow it to reverberate in the roof of the mouth.
