Guest guest
Sat Nam Siri Devta Kaur, (lovely name, by the way) Yes, this is an excellent question. I, too, have digestive problems. I had my gallbladder (and accompanying gallstones) removed during emergency surgery when I was19 (12 years ago...ack). Since that time, I seem to have developed a hiatal hernia, producing that wonderful reflux and excruciating pain. The pain can be simply incredible; indeed, in my last yoga class, our teacher helped people in this particular position. When she approached me, she immediately lay her hand between my ribs, the precise site for the pain, and noted how tense and tight it was. I was able to relax into my body. However, I find that eating nothing and only drinking water 1 to 2 hours before yoga seems to prevent reflux. Unfortunately, the condition itself continues to exist, manifesting at really inopportune moments. Dana siri_devta_kaur wrote: > I have digestive problems, and my body is getting rid of toxins. Guest guest
Auryveda can be really helpful for your situation with heartburn. Depending on where your imbalance lies, Auryveda may recommend heating spices/herbs to stimulate stagnancy in the digestive system or cooling spices to calm the digestive fire. The book that was already recommended to you is an excellent reference tool. For a more elaborate description of Auryveda including detailed instructions for detoxification and balancing the bodie's constitution, I recommend "A Life of Balance" by Maya Tiwari and "Absolute Beauty" by Dr. Pratima Raichur (which is available from her website- look up Bindi). Absolute beauty has detox instructions including a recipe for mung beans and rice. Best of luck to you!
