I need help. I have injured my back (lower) and everytime I move I get a

shooting pain in my hips. the lower back is swollen. Is there a kriyia that I

should use to help this situation? I have tired holding my knees and rocking

back and forth for 5 minutes. It seems to help for a few days and then the back

went into another spasm and no amount of rocking helps now. Any help would be

greatly appreciated.

Dear Carol,

You need to relax and not exercise much so it heals. Use heat for 10

minutes at a time. See a health professional. Do plenty of breathing to

help the healing process.

Dear Carol-

If your back is "swollen" and not responding well to movement, it is best to

rest and give it time to heal. Healing imagery can really help. Imagine

cool and soothing colors coating the inflamed area. Imagine space between

the vertebrae in your low back. Imagine yourself doing your regular sets

with ease and pleasure. You did not mention how you injured your back but,

if it was due to over extertion or a strain, homeopathic remedies may help.

As a modern dancer, I have strained my lower back many times. I have had a

lot of luck with a combination of Arnica Montana and Rhus Toxicendron.

Homeopathic remedies are available at health food stores. If your doctor

dismisses you with the "take two ibuprofrin tablets four times a day and

call me in a week", a homeopathic practitioner may be best able to help you

find the right remedies and guide you in the specific details about how to

maximize their results.

May you recover quickly.

Sat Nam,

Gwen
