Guest guest
Dear Nicole, "what is the best way to manage the time when saying Mantra. Like I have to 2 min. say it out loud, then 5 min. whisper and etc. How would I know when one faze is finish and the next starts. That's for sure I don't want to look at the clock every time witch is definitely very distractive." The Traditional Phases of Mantra chanting are: (1) Vaikhari or verbal with Ucchara. (2) Upamsu with humming sound. (3) Manasika wherein the lips do not move. It is done with the mind and mind alone. Tradition says, Upamsu brings fruits thousand times more than that of Vaikhari. Manasika brings fruits crores of times than Vaikhari. Do use your "inner clock" for mantra chanting. Accrd. to my personal experience, when you force yourself to some outer-timing it does not work out well (like using clocks or counting the repetitions of the mantra). Just chant it loudly as much as you like, after a while you will feel that you do not need to chant it loudly as you did, (you start to hear the melody without saying it)- that is the time to start whispering. Maybe some furter tips would help better: 1. You need to wait for a better concentration to continue with a further phase - so give yourself to the chanting! 2. The more you are regular with mantra chanting, better you will concentrate 3. When you feel that your mind wanders away when you are in Manasika, you may return to Vaikhari or Upamsu to gain back your concentration. 4. If you are new to mantra chanting and/or to meditation, you may also go only with loud chanting, since the mind wanders away so much more quicker when you stop chanting it loudly. Peace and love, Ayca.
Guest guest
Sat Nam LHarris You are absolutely right, this is a perfect solution. That's is what used when making tape for accelarated learning...you can just lightly hit two spoons together which also makes jentl bell sounds, or two glasses will do the trick...I knew this way, but couldn't put it together...Thank you again for doing it for me. Peace and Love. Nicole. LHarris wrote: Sat Nam Nicole, For the tricky time management's Meditations - Mantras, I have found that tapping the required time frame. That way I'm not inclined to stop during the Mantra to look at the time. ie: Put the tape in recording mode, after 2 minutes strike a gong (or something) to mark the time. after 5 minutes from that time strike the gong again to mark another time frame... Then when you're ready to Meditate, just put the tape in and let it do the timing notification for ya. Humbly, Bhagavati My best regards. Make a great connection at Personals. Guest guest
I use a kitchen timer to time my meditations, etc. It has 2 settings - and a memory so that I can just click it on the shorter or longer time depending on what I am doing. It helps me keep increasing my intervals - as I was always "shorting" the time. Leslie
