Guest guest
Although I am new to teaching, I have found (as a student and teacher) that the ideal length for a yoga class is 1 1/2 hours. This is especially true if you include relaxation in the end (which many classes nowadays do not.) My classes are limited to an hour but that has been very frustrating for me and I will change that next semester. There are also ways to make it optional for your students to stay for an additional chunk of time. One of my teachers taught an hour and then invited us to stay longer and gave those who needed to leave gentle instructions on how to leave quietly and respectfully. That seemed to work out. Some classes can linger and involve community building where participants share tea and discussion in the end. This can be a radical break from the compulsion to adhere to strict schedules (for both students and teachers). When it is successful, the yoga class can end on a joyful note and serve as a form of anti-compulsive busy-ness activism. And this is a beautiful thing. Please note, I am speaking from my experience with teaching hatha yoga. I am new to Kundalini and have never taken a KY class. Such classes might need a specific amount of time. Guest guest
Sat Nam, The actual yoga if very intense should not be more than 45 minutes plus relax. I personally won't teach for less than 1 15 or 30 minutes because I like to give a context, connect with my students and have time to chill at the end. Also just rushing through leave out the silent, relax part. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
