Guest guest
dear people, i heard somewhere that eating meat was bad for ones karma. is this accurate? i am aware that many schools of yoga and buddhism advocate vegitarianism. why is this? from an evolutionary perspective it is clear that we humans have special teeth for lacerating flesh. take great care Stephen

Read, "A Diet for a New America." Meat is tamasic (affects our ability to meditate and to maintain a sattwic, saintly state) and it creates uric acid in the bloodstream which is carcinogenic. It is also difficult to digest and eliminate. Yoga advocates a vegetarian diet for health and respect for all life (non-harming, non-killing). Guest guest
Sat Nam Stephen, I'm not sure about the Karma thing, but I am pretty sure that: if one chooses to eat meat, they will absorb the emotional stress that the animal incurs at the time of slaughter. Also, according to a portion of Patanjali's yoga sutra's: One may want to practice *Ahimsa - Nonviolence Humbly, Bhagavati *Self control, restraints (yama) The Yamas or restraints (Don'ts) are divided into five moral injunctions, aimed at destroying the lower nature. They should all be practiced in word, thought and deed. They involve: ahimsa - non-injury or violence, satyam - truthfulness, brahamacharya - moderation in all things (control of all senses), also refers to celibacy, asteya or non-stealing, aparigraha or greadlessness. Guest guest
Dear Stephen, I have heard of many reasons for not eating meat. Some of it is philosophical, some say for energetic reasons. It is said that meat has a denser vibration. It is also believed that there are people, who may really want to be a vegitarian, but for the benefit of their health, should not be. To me, it is a personal thing, and one would best meditate, and experiment to see if a vegan diet is best for them.
