Two Questions -- Use of tape for meditation.

I've been using a tape of the "Humee Hmu Braham Hum" meditation from

Invincible Productions (available on the www.meditationasmedicine.com

website) and I've found it a great help in meditating. It greatly increases

my focus and helps tame my monkey mind. Also the chant drops out after

minute, so that I can easily time myself and not be a clock watcher or

disturb myself with a timer. I love a previous suggestion that one bangs a

gong or clicks two spoons together and tape the intervals required for a

mediation like the Kirtin Kryia.

Just in passing, I've been doing a sadhna pretty consistently for 4 1/2

months. I generally do a 30 minute spinal flex series and 44 minutes of

meditations. Aside from everything becoming easier, I really haven't

noticed any of the numerous and exciting changes that others talk about. I

keep saying "OK, just five more minutes (yawn)" or "C'mon it will be over

soon." But hey, I've been a lifelong skeptic. Nothing has come easy. At

three months I generally give up anything like a diet or exercise program.

So I'll just keep plugging away. I'll just take it a day at a time.

Not everyone gets such noticable results. For some it manifests simply

as a greater sense of wellbeing and for some things get worse before they

get better, because they are clearing blocks and karma. Everyone is

different. Although having interesting and beautiful experiences is

wonderful , it is not a real indication of spiritual progress. Who you

are and what you are becoming is. As Yogi Bhajan says "Keep up and you

will be kept up!"
