Guest guest
Ronen, The "L" in the head is the movement of the energy of each part of the chant. As you as Sa, you visualize the Sa entering the crown and exiting from the third eye. This is done, if my memory serves me, so that a headache does not develope while doing the chant SaTaNaMa. Guest guest
It's really too bad that the word "headache" ever entered into the description of this Kriya. After 20 years of practice I've never gotten a headache and have often lost focus on the "L". Keeping the "L" simply allows for the proper flow orientation. Feel it as a flow of syllables, a channel of energy or a column of light coming from above into the top of your head and projecting forward through the browpoint. An additional point (as if all of the above wasn't enough) is to chant from the Central Channel. Feel your spine to be like a radio tower broadcasting. It really brings the whole experience back into the body and all the chakras. Just be cognizant of your spine. Dharam As Bhagwati said yesterday "You could consider it an invisible path used by the lesson from Cosmic Wisdom: The path begins above you're head, enters into the Bindu / 7th Chakra (energy center) then takes a turn at the Pineal gland to exit through you're Guru Chakra / third eye, to be again reabsorbed by you're whole body. The reabsorption is another reason why some people keep their palms faced upward when meditating..." (The only stupid question is the one not asked.) Guest guest
Sat Nam Dharam, At first I thought perhaps I was in error. I did go back to the Kundalini Yoga Guidelines for Sashana and on page 96 it states, "Some people may experience headaches from practicing Kirtan Kriya. The most common reason for this is improper circulation of prana in the solar centers. To avoid this problem or correct it if it has already occurred, you must meditate on the primal sound in the "L" form." I was answering the below question: > Pard me, but I still don't get it - What is the L in the Head??? > Please elaborate, as it seems I'm quite stupid in that... > Ronen. > Blessings, Samantha - "Dharam" <dharam <Kundaliniyoga> Thursday, October 18, 2001 11:44 AM Re: Kirtin Kriya - question > It's really too bad that the word "headache" ever entered into the description of this Kriya. Guest guest
I'm really gald to hear someone else has lost focus on the L ! I find you descriition of a flow of energy throught the L much easier to deal with - it's what I have always found myself doing, and I have had some wonderful results with Kirtan Kryia. Guest guest
I find when I start Kirtin Kriya, the L sort of just flows by itself. I don't have to focus on it. Blessings, Samantha
Guest guest
You are not in error but what I was getting at was it is distracting to approach something while focused on a possible negative outcome. You said "This is done, if my memory serves me, so that a headache does not develope while doing the chant SaTaNaMa." I was saying we focused on the "L" because that is the way the meditation is done properly, that we focus that we to allow the process. It could be that people have gotten "headaches"....I dunno. The word headache is so finite just like the word pain. What is pain? It's a label. What if we refine our experience of that sensation by bringing breath and awareness to the area. We might recognize that we are actually holding that area with our will. This is listening to the energy. Listening to the energy leads to comprehending and controlling the energy. Relaxation and resolution is a matter of paying attention and not doing. I actually wish that in future editions of Sadhana Guidelines Gurucharan Singh might rewrite that line a little. I will ask him about that some day when we're just hangin' (that was written in the 1976). He is a busy guy. Yogiji has given this as one of the three pillars of Kundalini (along with Sat Kriya and Sodarshan Chakra Kriya). Enjoy this. Gurucharan has said that if a person has no sense of why they are here in this life, that this kriya will reveal one's destiny. Chanting Wahe Guru will fullfill it.
