Guest guest
That's a great tip Dharam...! I will pass that along to my mailing list... =) something i also pass to my friends... another "why didnt i think of that?" thing... normally, you can not get your computer infected with a virus unless you OPEN an e-mail attatchment... so whenever someone sends me an e-mail with an attatchment... don't care if its a txt, rtf, exe, jpg.... i ALWAY e-mail them back immediately to ask them if they DID send it.... BEFORE i open it.... i.e. .... "hi <insert friend's name>!.. just double checking... did you send me an attatchment called snowwhite.exe...? if you didnt then you might want to run a virus check on your computer just to be sure it is not infected...." if they say yes... then i open the file with no worries... if not then i DELETE not only can you stop the spread of a virus this way... but you will also alert your friend that their computer has been infected... I have stopped 3 viruses so far with this method.... all three times my friends didnt realise it had happened.... =( But like Gordon said... KY List doesnt allow attachments so we wont get them through here... however, not all e-mail lists have this policy.. so you might want to double check before you open anything from an e-mail list with attatchment... Guest guest
Hey Sat Purkh, That you email a friend before opening an attachment is certainly vigilant enough. Even if someone opened an attachment and nothing has happened doesn't meant that you're in the clear...yet. Best to do a scan. Trojan horses sit there waiting and one day stuff starts getting weird Dharam LadyOStars wrote: > That's a great tip Dharam...! > > I will pass that along to my mailing list... =) > > something i also pass to my friends... another "why didnt i think of that?" > thing... > > normally, you can not get your computer infected with a virus unless you OPEN > an e-mail attatchment... > > so whenever someone sends me an e-mail with an attatchment... > don't care if its a txt, rtf, exe, jpg.... i ALWAY e-mail them back > immediately to ask them if they DID send it....
