Guest guest
Dear Group, I have been practicing Kundalini Yoga for approximately 3 months in the morning with some success. There is a program I follow which instructs me at the end of the practice to balance the energy in the top two chakras by sending it to every cell in the body. This seems to work well for most of the day until bedtime when I have all of this excess energy in my body. I can't sleep. There is so much nervous energy and heat I have to get up and walk around. Several exercises I've tried at night to release the energy are putting my hands under cold running water and imaging the excess energy going into the water through my hands and also siting down with my hands in a fist on my knees trying to visualize the Kundalini coming down. At this point nothing seems to work. I really want to continue doing Kundalini Yoga but must get this problem resolved first. Can anyone tell me why I have all of this nervous energy before bed time and how I can balance/release this energy so I am not awake half the night. I am open to any suggestion or recommendations on books or tapes to purchase. I live in Orlando with my family and would like to meet other participants of Kundalini Yoga in this area. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. Sat Nam Glenn Backes
Guest guest
Hi Glen Backs where in Orlando are you? I am just south of Orlando in the Kissimmee area, and have been looking for some people to practice or communicate with as well. If you live in the North, then try winter park, Altamonte springs area. Also, if you are into acupuncture, it can clear the problem you have very easily. my husband suffers from this as well. it all depends upon how long you have been experiencing this as to how long it will take to clear it up. If it has been going on for only 3 months then you can get it cleared up rather quickly. try National college of Oriental medicine in Orlando, they are excellent, and if you ask for me, I will give you $10's off on your first treatment so you only pay around 15-20 dollars. This sounds like liver fire that has the tendency to move up toward the head and makes it difficult to sleep, etc but without knowing more it is best not to say for sure. hope this helps. let me know where you are located in Orlando? Guest guest
This is a common problem, especially if you are learning K. yoga without the help of a certified teacher. I had a similar problem, myself, when I first started to practice Sat Nam Rasayan. Guru Dev Singh (master of Sat Nam Rasayan) told me that my nadis were blocked. I can't find the meditation he gave me, but I'll keep looking. In the meantime, I highly suggest that you start working on your nervous system. Ravi Singh's book, Kundalini Yoga for Strength, Success & Spirit, (White Lion Press) has 2 excellent sets of exercises in Chapter 8. He says, "A strong nervous system is a prerequisite for the process of Kundalini." You are experiencing the reason why he says this. Lots of energy with the inability for the nervous system to handle it. Some other things to try: Also in the same book Metabolic Breathing with Hands Like a Teapot (Chata Chya Kriya) will relax you before sleeping, or for grounding say the Mul Mantra 108 times per day.
