Guest guest
For determining your constitution, there are several books on Ayurveda that have questionnaires. I have recommended four to the KY reference site. The pitfall with doing this yourself is that a lot of the questions are subjective and so you may answer them according to how you perceive yourself or according to your current state which may be an imbalance of one of the doshas (elements) and not your true constitution. Also, at different points in our lives (infancy, adulthood, old age), certain elements are dominant. The questonnaires are helpful and can be a starting point, but it is best to have your constitution assessed by a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner (one who really knows how to diagnose your pulse, etc). When you use the questionnaires, try to answer the questions with a broad view of yourself; from your earliest memories on up. Also, compare yourself to others world-wide so that you are placing yourself on the scale of all possible human manifestions of, for example, hair texture. Ayurveda is an eastern science and so the answers to the questions are not black and white nor are they fixed. This can be very frustrating for westerners. Let your awareness guide you.
