Guest guest
hello group i would appreciate your opinions as to whether the life force is present in tobacco, since i noticed that some south american tribes smoke tobacco to commune with the divine. also ethiopian people amungst others drink copious amounts of very strong coffee for a similar reason. and then there are drugs and alcohol all of which elevate the spirit to new dimensions. i realise that a greater awarness can be achieved with regular meditation but my question is as follows; are these substances taken in moderation and with discipline necessarily bad. sat nam stephen

Dr. Alan Ross gives an explanation for it in his excellent book , Mitakoye Oyassin. In it he explains that the nicotine alters brain waves and allows a clearer mind when praying to the Great Mystery or when talking to the spirits. > also ethiopian people amungst others drink copious > amounts of very strong coffee for a similar reason. considering that coffee was first discovered and cultivated in the Middle East, this is no big surprise. The Koran even talks about the sacredness of coffee. I would assume that this, like the nicotine in tobacco, causes a change in brain waves allowing a feeling of closer connection to the divine. > and then there are drugs > and alcohol all of which elevate the spirit to new > dimensions. i realise that > a greater awarness can be achieved with regular > meditation but my question is > as follows; are these substances taken in moderation > and with discipline > necessarily bad. i do not wish to condone any drug use what-so-ever, however, my kundalini was awoken in february while on LSD out the woods. while drugs can wreak havoc on our bodies they can cause changes in consciousness, elevation of energy vibrations, and opening up of parts of the spirit that (while any serious practioner of meditation and energy movement can do the same with work and practice), would otherwise go untapped for a regular person who knows nothing of these forces. thats just my take on things... --paul f. Guest guest
I can't say much about tobacco except that there is a Bach flower treatment made from it that helps folks connect the heart and mind. I have had it prescribed for me and some really old disconnections were brought to the surface and resolved. I can't remember which way round it is, but in one the parasympathetic nervous system is stimulated and for the other the sympathetic nervous system.
