Guest guest
Sat Nam The use of coffee and tobacco were used for holy rites and were held sacred. They were never meant to be used or abused in the ways they are today. There are those who feel everything in moderation. You need to decide where you stand on the issue. After all it is your life. Blessings, Samantha
Guest guest
There are many traditions in which it is a cultural practice to take a mind altering drug as part of a spiritual practice. Although I'm not native American, it is my understanding that part of the offering of tobacco is symbolic as your prayers rise to the Great Spirit on the smoke. This is a ritual practice, much different than the addictiive habit of smoking tobacco. In Kundalini yoga, however, the teaching is to honor your body. There are a number of yoga practices in which you can achieve a trance state. These have been taught by Yogi Bhajan. You can reach this state more easily by keeping your body pure, free of toxins, because your nervous system is functioning correctly. It will not function properly if you are on drugs, including nicotine.
