Guest guest
Greetings Gail, Thank you for your kind response from South Africa. I am an African American with Native American blood. I really miss India and the people. I was told that India has a similar feel to Africa. I have to do so much yoga these days with all of the psychic abuse stemming from the events of Sept. 11th. It not easy but there are days I feel I am one of many reclaiming the dignity and royalty of the Turban by first, being seen in one and second, being seen as a person of peace, consciousness, grace and courage in the face of much fear, anger and ignorance. I could take off my turban and wear a baseball cap and "blend" and avoid "the work". But people who see me (and others with Turbans) have a unique opportunity to confront in their own minds and hearts, the darkness. (It's funny, as I write this I am now remembering a dream I was having last night. I was naked running through the streets of the Bronx just trying to get back to my childhood home. I wasn't trying to get attention, I just didn't initially think it mattered but as the trip progressed I become increasing stressed. Hmmmmm) “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh” has a two fold meaning. It denotes a special relationship between God and those who dedicate their lives to His love and service. Also it is the expression of a devotee’s faith in the ultimate triumph of Truth over Falsehood. This Sikh salutation means “Khalsa belongs to God (Waheguru) and to God alone belongs the Victory (Fateh)”. Just reciting Waheguru is a meditation and a blessing. Waheguru means Indescribable wisdom, Bliss beyond words. It expresses the indescribable experience of going from darkness to light. Wa-Infinity He-Identity Guru-from darkness to light The proper salutation for all Sikhs — “Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh” — was introduced by command of Siri Guru Gobind Singh Ji at the time of the manifestation of Khalsa in 1699.
