What I have experienced in different situations is when I am in a deep state of relaxation or meditation, my breathe seems to be very slow and would appear not to be there. What is happening is that my breathe has gone deeper into my system working automatically without my consciousness. It is a very different feeling. It is nothing to be frighten by.
