one more question about gazing

I have been practicing the gazing technique and have appreciated the helpful

comments. So far, it seems that I haven't reached the point of getting past

that ocean of ego, but it sure seems to be pulling a lot of that ego stuff to

the surface. However, I am very near sighted. I don't usually like to meditate

with my glasses--they just seem to be a "block" somehow (also catch reflections

from candles during gazing). Still, without them, I can't really see the

picture clearly. It's more of a blurry image I'm looking at it. Any

suggestions for a "4-eyes"?

How far are you from the photo. I think you should be 8 feet but if you need to

be closer go ahead. Additionally, I've made an enlarged version of the photo for

group sessions.

Keep up,

Dharam

about 3 or 4 feet from the photo. its still a blur that close. I have really

bad eyesight. 8 feet seems far away.

even so, it does seem to be having subtle effects, a sort of pulling up and out

of old "stuff" attached to ego.

3 or 4 feet is fine. Let your mind see. Don't strain your eyes...see with

relaxed eyes and facial muscles and I believe without glasses is best. Allow

yourself, your prana and mind

to merge. Gaze as long as you can without blinking. There is a small book

compiled by Gurucharan Singh on gazing. Tratakam is n the title, I believe.

There are some preparatory

exercise in it that are good for the prana of the eyes.

Best to you,

Dharam

You might want to try gazing at a flame. This would not require precise

vision. In fact, when you do it, the flame takes many shapes. Sit about 7

ft. away and gaze through "snake eyes" (this is closing your eyes equal

amounts from the top and bottom. It is sort of like squinting but with equal

amount of closure with the top and bottom eyelids) Picture the flame in the

back of your head. It will go there with practice. The flame should be at

the same height as your eyes.

I like that.

Actually look with your third eye into his third eye. This is the

connection you want. It won't strain your eyes and won't matter if you can

see clearly. You will know what clear is from your third eye.

And a hot tip for those going to Solstice. Look into the third eye of your

partner with your third eye. These are the instructions we got at the last

Tantric Course I attended. It works so much better. You can stay very

steady this way. No wandering from one eye to the next.

This is also in my book Relax and Renew.

thank you. I did try with glasses a few minutes this morning, but took them

off, it does seem to interrupt the flow.

thank you for the help. yes, I am beginning to sense that I need to be focusing

on the third eye, and that my physical vision is not where the emphasis should

be.

and thanks for the solstice tip! Really, my Gazing practice has been a way of

preparing for Tantric, and the connection with Yogiji that comes from that.

Hello again,

Could somebody please explain what is meant by the "gazing technique"?

Is it like scrying? Or something completely different?

(Sorry for so many questions and so little knowledge....)

Divinity Bless
