Guest guest
Hello! I am a new member of the Kundalini Yoga List. We were asked to post a short introduction about ourselves. I am a singer and voice teacher. I have been doing Kundalini Yoga for over a year, using Nirvair Singh Khalsa's video tapes and Gururattan's manuals. Kundalini Yoga has helped my mood and my health tremendously. I have enjoyed reading all your postings, and am very glad to be a member of the group. Guest guest
Dear Kebet, I think that Kundalini yoga breathing techniques are helpful for singing. Many of the Kundalini yoga breathing techniques are similar to breathing exercises I learned from my voice teacher, because they involve sustaining the breath, which increases your control over the pacing of your breathing, which is essential for good singing. The breath of fire is also similar to an exercise that I learned for singing, which helps keep the muscles used for breathing toned and flexible. When I had a bad cold recently, I practiced some of the exercises for the throat and neck in the Beauty section of Gururattan's book, "Sexuality and Spirituality," and I found them very helpful. There are also some exercises listed as good for the throat in her "Relax and Renew" manual. In general, I find the energizing and relaxing effects of yoga to be beneficial for singing. Wishing you all the best in your practice, Celeste Kundaliniyoga, LadyAmaunet@A... wrote: > Hi Celeste, > > i was wondering if KY breathing techniques are good to use for vocal > excersies as far as singing is concerned.... > > i am an out of shape singer, and am desperately looking for a teacher again > and to get back in shape........ > > > Thank you > > ~kebet > > >
Guest guest
Re: New List Member Hi Celeste, i was wondering if KY breathing techniques are good to se for vocal excersies as far as singing is concerned.... i am an out of shape singer, and am desperately looking or a teacher again and to get back in shape........ Thank you ~kebet Message from pvsc Hi kebet, KY in short chinese term " KY "energy in Indian philosophy it is known for " KUNDALINI" a vibrant energy emnated within the body system and govern whole body system to function. This "KY" energy have a rythm and circulate with in the body system. It is generated out of the breath of an individual. That breath of air will generate 5 types of energies which have a functioning and impact on body system. 1. The part of breath create an impulse at Heart & lungs chakra (circle/energycentre) this in kundalini called as the life giving energy in Indian yoga terminology called as "Prana shakti". The force emnated at the Heart chakra. 2. This is that part of the air out of breath activate at the groin centre/Kidney to excrete the waste/toxins generated in the body this in Indian Yoga terminology called "Apana shakti". The force emnates at the root of the Vertebra and place under the groin and genetals. 3. This part of the air out of breath which activate on th Liver / Pancreas to create Juices to digest the food that was taken in to the body. This is called "Vyan shakti". The energy centre which located above the naval region and below the lungs (belly). 4. This part of the air out of breath that activates the Vocal cords, speach, located in the Neck region. This is called "Udan shakti" 4. This part of the air out of the breath which activate on the Nerves system and put an impulse on mind "samana shakti" which try to keep whole body to function in its equilibrium i.e, same rythmic state continuously. This is located in the Head region. Now any sort of practices whether " KY" or "Kundalini" will help to revitalise the whole body energy centres continuously so that the mind will have a total direction. Albert Einstein said that even a very intellectual person uses his brain only to the extent of the 10% of brain power. That means if we are able to control of our mind give a positive direction the results must be amazing. In order to control the mind and use it in a positive direction Kundalini yoga is of immense help. Regarding your problem that feeling yourself as "OUT OF SHAPE SINGER" it is not correct. if you start believing on yourself and your "own" type of singing without imitating others You can never be an out of share singer. You mean YOur "self" having a unique identity there is no body in the universe who can be like you. You are a branded unique identity that God has created. Regarding "KY" energy application for improving the vocal cords as explained above the breath energy point (4) activate on vocal cords. So please learn chanting the sacred name of your choice preferably in the early hours 4.30am to 5.30am which is a divine time at this time if you concentrate on meditation it will influence on mind you will feel a divine spell emanatig from your body. Else please chant the words of "OM" as much lengthy time as you can in one stretch of breath and continue same for whole time you sat for meditation. For good voices if vegetarianism if observed that will add up for spiralling the speach energy transparent, forceful and pull the crowd and keep them mesmerised at your thought and make them to listen to your music of your class. Believe that you will certainly feel that inherent unfolded energy and the latent abilities that you have will be known to you soon. You will be astonishing upon viewing the result at a later date once you practice above. With love PVSCHANDRA
