Hi!

I have a very restless mind and have a hard time quieting my mind

during meditation. It skips around and the harder I try to stop it,

the more I end up thinking. What are some techniques for quieting the

mind?

Thanks!

I would like to answer your question. Help you for more

concentration of mind.

Concentration of mind is biggest problem not peculiar to you

alone it is for anyone and everyone.

Meditation alone can give a big solace. However it is cyclical.

In the sense meditation possible thru putting efforts on our body

system to enforce our thoughts to have a path or direction to the

mind.

So the body system must listen to our commands.

It essentially happen thru our style and food habits etc., here

are some tips.

1. Religiously put more efforts to control on food habits

preferably be a vegetarian.

2. Do fasting observe on any day of your choice in a week

this will give will power to control the sense.

3. Feel that when you are able to control food habits you are

half way thru on will power.

4. Try 2 days nonsmoking alcoholism feel on the second day when

you are able to control for 2 days continue

to test your body system whether reciprocative for further

more 2 days. If then also you are successful how come this body

cant listen to your commands after all it is your own body ask

the body to continue for nonsmoking and alcohol.

5. This is the way to increase your will power on your own

body.

Meditation : Continue meditation 15-30 minutes in the early

morning regularly. If it happens you could not do but do it

even in the evening but dont miss.

Visualise a radiant sun at your forehead feel the same radiant

sun emanating all your body centres right from left toe, ankle

joints, lower part of navel region, belly, lungs, heart, neck,

nose, ears, eyes. forehead and keep your thought of making the

radiant sun constantly fixed at your head keep feeling in that

ecstatic state. It is nothing but divine force/bio electric/Cosmic

energy instill all over your body. Once you reach the above

feeling in your

meditation assume you are successful in controlling your mind.

Build more spirit of increasing the desire to feel the above in

your mind it is charging the mind with divine forces

in the sub-consious state. You will feel more relaxed and some

new energy spilling and pervading all your body.

Only one rule is Yoga meditation and divine thoughts are only

experiences one should feel and enjoy. It cannot be decoded or

expressed in its true sense in any books.

Another rule for more concentration however much you are

overwhelmed joy you could enjoy in your practices

should not give any iota of scope for ego tendency in any form

or any way. Ego is the main killing and spoiling factor of our

consiousness to concentrate.

A best friend.

Namaste Tiffany,

I honestly believe that even the "best of the best" sometimes have

difficulty quieting their minds.

Perhaps you could simply re-route your energy to, what I call, motion

meditation. Rather than beat yourself up by trying to get rid of all

thoughts, concentrate instead on one topic. ie your third eye, the tip of

your nose with eyes 1/10th open, or my favorite One: God(dess)! Then there

is MANTRA, Mantra, mantra! Allow those (80 something) energy centers

inside your mouth to become alive in order to help direct your attention by

choosing your favorite Mantra. Soon you'll feel accompanied by the

vibration coming from your heart. To further help, allow your body to move

- as per any of the meditation techniques mentioned in Any of Gururattans

books. Don't make up your own movements though, get an ingredient out of

any of her books. And keep in mind, what many people call quieting their

minds is simply being "One pointedness" - being able to concentrate on one

thing.

Yes, all of these things together are what I refer to as "Motion

Meditation" - Very Powerful Indeed! Then one day, way down the road when

your ready, dip into the silent meditation, but there is NO need to rush -

in my Humble opinion

Humbly, Bhagavati

For me the best way to quiet the mind is to not try to

quiet it. Let it do what it wants to do. That much

having been said, it is important that you maintain

consistancy in your practice. Be determined steadfast

and vigilant. I try to make daily sadhana and love of

God and good works towards others a primary focus so

that the spirit becomes so powerful, that the mind

follows along like a little puppy. This could happen

anywhere between three months and ten years of daily

practice, usually around three years. God bless you.
