Guest guest
Sat nam Adam! I practice both Astanga yoga and Kundalini, and find that I bring elements of both into each one (but more so with kundalini into astanga). Astanga, although physically demanding, can be taught very spiritually, although it depends on the knowledge of the teacher. At the same time, kundalini, which is very spiritual by nature, can be physically rigorous. Holding poses for 11 plus minutes is not easy-- but the results are fantastic. You sweat in kundalini, and you shake. Comparing these two types of yoga, I find that kundalini satisfies a deeper part of me, and gives me more a sense of community with other practitioners. I love the mix of mantra, mudra and asana. Most yoga forms traditionally used this triad, but sadly it has been thrown by the wayside in a lot of types of yoga that you see in gyms and health clubs. Keep looking for a kundalini teacher, though. There is a wealth of information on the internet as well as videos, books, music...you'll find it if you want it.
