Guest guest
The meditation called Doei Ashtapad Jap from the Meditation Manual says to begin Long Deep Breaths, on the Inhale mentally vibrating "Sat Nam" 16 x's, and on the Exhale "Wha Guru" 16 x's. It goes on to say the 16 beats are done mentally in 2 cycles of 8, 4 strokes up and 4 strokes down in each cycle of 8. I have always just mentally vibrated the "Sat Nams" 16 x's on the inhale and "Wha Gurus" 16 x's on the exhale. Its this other instruction that is confusing me (16 beats are done mentally in 2 cycles of 8, 4 strokes up and 4 strokes down in each cycle of 8.) Does anyone know just what this means? My guess is that this is an easy way to keep tract of the count. Someone else might have heard of a more profound expanation.
