Sat nam.

Thanks everybody for your very useful responses. Just what I needed!

I forgot to post last week that I just started leading some friends

in Kundalini Yoga. [i got tired of doing it alone!]

It just feels so good. I'm so happy that they want to do it again,

tonight is the next meeting.

Last time we did 2 kriyas for insomnia, as the woman student (she is

89 years young!) and myself have sleep troubles.

One kriya is from the online course, it is a very simple sa ta na ma

kriya, and the other I found in a book, which if anyone is interested

I can post.

That night I slept 8 hours for the first time in years!

Ha,

why am I so amazed, I know Kundalini Yoga always works. :>

Sat Nam Kartar Kaur,

When I teach BOF, after explaining it, I sit near those who do not know how

to do it. I have them place a hand on my navel while they keep a hand on

theirs and I demonstrate by doing it. This way they get a feel for it.

Blessings to you.

Looks like you've already got lots of good advice about breath of fire.

Here's just a little more--before teaching breath of fire, be sure that the

student has mastered long deep breathing. Be sure the student can control

the breath to the point of first filling the lower , then middle, then upper

part of the lungs on the inhale and the reverse on the exhale. I have found

in teaching over the years that the students who are having problems with BOF

have not mastered long deep breathing. This is the most basic breath and, in

my opinion, should be learned before moving on the more advanced and

complicated breath techniques.

I also agree with whoever said that BOF takes practice. It really does. The

beginner may have to pause take a few regular breaths and begin again.

Remember that women on their period should do long deep breathing in lieu of

BOF. It's an important point to make when teaching this breath.
