Guest guest
I learned one in Sabrina Mesko's book "Mudras" Seated posture. Hands in fists with thumbs on temples. Elbows up so that upper arm is parallel to floor. Clench the jaw: Your thumbs should be where you feel the temple muscle tense. Be clenching the jaw, biting down in a pulsing rhythm while holding the temples firmly (but not so that it hurts.) Sabrina says to do Breath of Fire during this one, but I have also done it in classes with long, slow deep breathing. SAT NAM! Guest guest
Actually you can find this wonderful meditation in all its glorious details in Sadhana guidelines. As you bite rhythmically with your molars to a count of 4, vibrating the mantra SA TA NA MA, silently, with the eyes gently turned upward to the 3rd eye. Guest guest
Addictions (5-7 min) Sit in easy pose with a straight spine, making sure that the lowest 6 vertebrae are pushed forward. Make fists of the hands. Extend the thumbs straight and place them on the temples in the niche where they fit. Lock the back molars and keep the lips closed. Vibrate the jaw muscles by alternating the pressure on the molars. A muscle will move in rhythm under the thumbs. Feel it massage the thumbs as you apply a firm pressure with the thumbs. Keep the eyes closed. Focus to the third-eye point. Mentally vibrate the mantra SA TA NA MA (same as Kirtan Kriya) at the third-eye point. Continue 5-7 min. The time may-be expanded to 20-31 min with practice. Comments: This "Medical Meditation for Habituation" is effective in overcoming such physical addictions as smoking, overeating & alcohol, and drugs. It also works on subconscious addictions which lead us to insecure and neurotic behavior patterns, and on phobic conditions.
