Guest guest
The phases of the moon have an effect on our bodies... just like the full and new moons create high and low tides through their gravitational pull on water. It makes sense when you consider that our bodies are mostly composed of water! 1/2 to 4/5 of the human body is water, depending on the portion of adipose tissue or fat. Water makes up about 85% of the brain, about 80% of the blood, and about 70% of lean muscles. So physically, the moons affect us. But also since the water element is associated with our emotions, we are such affected. It's not news that both humans and animals sometimes act a little crazy on the full moon!! hee hee! In my own practice, I work with the second chakra on the full & new moons which is related to the water element and emotions. Does anyone else have some thoughts, opinions, suggestions, etc... on this? Guest guest
Agali, I just taught a Hatha Yoga class this morning in which we focused on asanas for the the hips, which correspond to the 2nd chakra. Simple hip openers, like ankle-over-knee pose and baddhakonasana/butterfly pose. Deeper hip work with different variations of pigeon pose. Also some twists that addressed the hips. There is a mudra I do for the 2nd chakra, which is the thumb and pinky together, the other fingers relaxed and extended. This is the Bhudi Mudra and it balances bodily fluids. In Kundalini practice, there is the frog pose, standing pelvic tilts, and others which I'm sure some other Kundalini teachers on the list can tell us more about! Thank you! Guest guest
Everything you said is correct. One side piece to the Full Moon energy..... Years ago Rolling Thunder (a Shoshone Medicine Man) said, and his exact words were "a man has no business exposing himself to a full moon". This he spoke with the same conviction Yogiji speaks with. I wish I had to "balls" (back then in '77) to question as to why, but it may have to do with something about the male ego and sensitivity. Yogiji has said that when a man's emotions and ego get mixed together then he is not much good to anyone. I agree...man needs to be effective, for the most part. We guys also need our "down' time to get reconnected and honor the shakti within and without. Guest guest
Hi, in extreme oriental tradition, the day is Yang and the night is Yin...The full moon is yang and the new moon is Yin...and you can have an Yin or yang constitution...if you are yang the full moon ad yang in your all caracteristcs, If you are Yin, the full moon makes you more yang...
