The procedure will last approximately 90 minutes, after which he will go the Transplant ICU (Intensive Care Unit) where he will be in extreme isolation for about 10 days. Dr. Siri Atma Singh from Espanola and Dr. Harjot Kaur from Calgary, Canada have been in attendance in India, and will take shifts caring for him around the clock, with the transplant team and other hospital specialists. After 10 days he will be moved to an isolation room where there will continue to be no visitors (including family), as the Siri Singh Sahib will be on several drugs to prevent immunological rejection of the donated kidney by his body. At first these drugs will be at very high doses and that is why he needs to be in isolation, as those drugs suppress his own immune system so it will not reject the donated kidney. Because of the suppression of his immune system his body could easily catch a germ if he were to be exposed. So no one will be able to visit him until it is safe to reduce the immune-suppressing drugs and the Siri Singh Sahib's general state of energy and health is appropriate for visitors The Siri Singh Sahib will remain in the hospital for an unspecified amount of time, but doctors approximate that he will be able to leave and travel by the end of March. This transplant has been a long time in coming and has required immense planning, but all details were not finalized until Monday afternoon (New Delhi) time. His staff saw him on Sunday afternoon and he continues to be in good spirits and very vital. We feel that the world-wide prayers that have been vibrating for the Siri Singh Sahib these past months have offered this opportunity for better quality of life. Let us continue our prayers for successful surgery and a smooth and speedy recovery. Needless to say we will update you after the surgery is completed. Prayer is the power. ________________________ ______________________ For Your Information: Hacienda de Guru Ram Das, Espanola, New Mexico, as the Mother Ashram will have 24 hours of Ra Ma Da Sa, and Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru, starting on Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm and ending Thursday evening at 6:30 pm.
