Guest guest
Sat Nam everyone! I'm new to the group, so will briefly introduce myself, I'm English but currently living in Paris, France, both practicing and teaching KY. I've been teaching for about a year now, and am finding the more I teach, the more I study, the more I study, the more questions I have, so... am very happy to find this group, thanks to all for sharing your wisdom and experiences. Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative to Camel pose for students with back problems? When students are not able to do the more back-challenging postures, and instead do an alternative, does this lessen the effect of the Kriya by making it less complete? Guest guest
That's funny, I often suggest Camel pose when folks can't do wheel pose. I think you can have them work with Bridge Pose (aka upward facing dog). This is great(in my experience)for lower back and opens the chest/diaphragm somewhat, as does camel. In time their lower back may mend enough to handle other postures. Give a generous minute or two before the next posture. Guest guest
While reading this message, a light went on. Perhaps one could use a large ball to help open the lower back and opens the chest/diaphragm. Guest guest
Do Bow Pose regular, then roll to your side. When we hold Bow, then roll to either side & hold this position, it greatly reduces the effects of 'gravity'. Allowing us to stretch deeper & more efficiently. Om Shanti ... Guest guest
I am a little confused. I am having a difficult time picturing this. If I roll to my side, I would fall over, no?
