Guest guest
Hello everyone. I am completely new to yoga. So I'm going to have a LOT of questions for you all. I hope you don't mind. I will try not to inundate you with all of them at once. I came across Kundalini yoga about a month ago, while reading various books and articles on spirituality, energy, and healing. I have since then bought "The 8 Human Talents" by Gurmukh. I read through it and began doing the complete set at the end of the book, while occasionally adding some of the individual 'pieces' focusing on specific chakras. When I did the complete set, I felt exhausted, but great. I was full of energy. I was also hooked on the concept. I then found and read/downloaded many of the lessons on the kundaliniyoga website (the one by Gururattan). About a week ago I began doing the Spinal Stretch exercises in the evenings. (mainly because I don't do a lot of exercise and felt very stiff in my back) I felt absolutely wonderful and relaxed afterwards, but completely tired. I normally go to bed around 11pm, but since I've been doing those exercises I've been in bed by 9-9:30. And I am out cold. Am I doing these REALLY wrong? Or is this 'normal'? Thank you your help! Guest guest
Christa, As Yogi Bhajan would say, keep up! Follow your intuition, it seems to be working. My sadhana presently consists of navel and spinal work, and I feel its really paid off. I start with stretch pose, then 108 spinal flexes, frog squats, 3 mins Sat Kriya, its not much maybe 10-12 minutes but really engergizes in the morning, and I don't have time right now for much else. I do just enough yoga during the week to do meditation which I really like, usually pranayam like Sodarshun, but right now I'm doin Kirtan before bed. I just follow my feeling and adjust here and there. I did Sodarshun for about 6 mos. I'm kind of giving my body a rest right now, and that maybe what you are experiencing. You must let your body adjust. Doing Savasana last after a trying kriya, really helps (corpse pose). Let your body adjust, I had a tendency to push real hard before I realized my ego likes to run the show and now rest when I need it, and push when I feel like it. Gurumukh's book is excellent, a good book to start with and fun to read. Stick with it! I think you're right on track, and what you are experiencing is normal. Sat Nam...
