Guest guest
For the nasal congestion, try the remedy of 1/4 tsp baking soda and 1/4 tsp salt in a tepid glass of water and then close off one nostril and suck up the solution into the other nostril. Clear out as much phlem as you can and then do the other nostril. For the chest to decongest, try cayenne pepper before you go to bed. Either mix it in a cup of hot water and sip it or you can get cayenne in capsule form, which is what I do. Another remedy to get it cleared out is to put your right hand over your left shoulder and your left hand under your seat. Hold comfortable while you're relaxing for as long as you feel necessary...maybe a few minutes or hours. Then switch sides and put your left hand over your right shoulder and right hand under your seat. Hope this helps. Best, Diane > I haven't been able to do any yoga for about 4 days now. Guest guest
I haven't been able to do any yoga for about 4 days now. I've had this cold (with a lot of congestion) in my head and chest for just over a week. I just can't seem to shake it. I tried doing yoga with the cold, but inhaling through the nose is very difficult. And deep breathing usually results in me coughing. I've been drinking the yogi tea (Echinacea) and that opens up my head quickly, but it doesn't last for very long. And I can't find anything that works on the congestion in my chest. Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I'll just 'wait it out'. Thanks in advance! Christa
Guest guest
Hi Christa, I've had > this cold (with a lot of congestion) in my head and chest for just > over a week. If its not one thing its another huh? I think your physical body is just cleansing itself of toxins. I had the same thing early on, and wasn't really like a real cold, except for the real stuffy head feeling and of course can't breath. Mine started in the throat. Even if its just a normal cold, I don't know what to tell you. When I get one, rare now-a-days, I just wait until it subsides enough where I can breath through my nose. Just keep drinking yogi tea, got a nettie (sp?) pot for your nasal passages? Maybe someone's got a quick remedy. Sat Nam.. Brad
Guest guest
Dearest Christa, sometimes is 'wait it out' not a bad idea! Just lie in your bed and enjoy your favourite Ra Ma Da Sa version and relax.... If you want, you can try to make your own 'remedies'. A friend told me about Sanjeevinis some month ago. It was so much and so much English and I didn't look at that page since months. But now, I begin to understand and to work with it. Today I made some first remedies while chanting some KundaliniYogaMantras... Perhaps you can try it too or somebody ealth can do it for you. You will find informations on this site: www.saisanjeevini.org Wish you all the best and lot's of healing power. Sonja P.S. Guest guest
Okay Christa, Here is the bomb. Take a fist-sized chunk or bigger of ginger root (almost 2 cups). Slow boil in a gallon of water with 16 black peppercorns for 20 minutes or more. Sweeten with honey and add a decent amount of milk. Over the course of a day drink over a quart. I usually burn through a cold in a day with this tasty and powerful tea. Yogiji gave this few years ago. The milk is important so that your stomach doesn't flip out with all that pungency. Adding a few cardamom pods will assist in the digestion of the lactose.. Salud, Dharam
Guest guest
Thanks for all of the suggestions. My head is feeling a little better today, but my chest is still congested. I think I'll try 'the bomb' and see how I feel tomorrow (although I've got to be honest, Dharam -- I could feel myself making a face when I got to the part about adding peppercorns) And Brad, cleansing the chakras did cross my mind as a possible cause. That's why I continued to try to do yoga (to work through it). But after the first 2 days, I just couldn't breath. I've had head/chest colds before, but usually not for this long. And I live in FL, so it's not like I'm trudging through snow and braving freezing temps! Christa
Guest guest
The phlegm and congestion is classical kapha. The pungent/spicy drink is the antidote. The key is to make is sweet and milky enough...but not too sweet. It really does taste good. Go on and drop that Bomb! Also, the chinese are fond of "hocking"...you know, drawing that "bad boy" up and expulsing it with a bit of passion and that facial expression. If you ever seen Yogiji clear himself you'd know what I mean. Regular folk when they clear their throat usually go somewhere to spit it out. But Yogiji will open a tissue and hold in front of him away from his face 3 -6 inches and spit it out and into the tissue. When he leaves people sometimes try it and up making a mess of themselves. I think that clears the mind and energy field real nice, chakras included. Sat Nam, Dharam spatialagent1 wrote: > Thanks for all of the suggestions.
