Guest guest
Hi Cindy, and Sat Nam.. Everyone's got something to share on this I'm sure. People who practice yoga (yogis) arise early in the morning between 3a.m. and either 7a.m. This is called the 'ambrosial hour' (Amrit Vela), the most powerful time of the day to practice. Its no coincidence that it also coincides with the strongest hormone release in the body. Its time for me to strengthen my body (yoga) and still my mind (meditation). I do it virtually every morning, and some evenings. If you don't have time in the morning, the same hours apply in the evening. If nothing else I try to do some breath-of-fire, spinal flexes (or something for spine) and at least an 11 minute mediation. Right now I'm doing Sat Kriya (or its doing me). There are plenty of good kriyas and warm-up excercises and meditations on kundalini.org. And if you can find a class in your area you will benefit from group energy, and from having a teacher. It may seem like an awkward thing to do in the beginning, but if you stay with a sadhana, you will wonder how you ever started the day without it! There is also something about the magnetic quality of the ozone layer at this time of morning... I forget exactly what, but I did read it somewhere and it was quite interesting ... ....I believe it's something along the lines of the ions or electrons of the atmosphere having a positive charge during this time, which allows our brains to operate more easily on the alpha wave for meditation... ....any scientific minds out there who can help with this one?!
