Heidi,

My animals have taught me valuable lessons about healing and spirituality. I

agree with you in that they are more evolved than humans in many ways, and I

think they are waiting for us to catch up.

It was by following the animal path, serving the animals, that I found yoga.

I resonated with yogic philosophy--oneness of all creation, non-hurting,

non-harming. I recognized these Truths. I have always empathized with

animals, and I realize more and more how much we are alike--we are all

connected. Look at the web of life: what happens to one species affects all

others. My body literally aches when I see an animal mistreated or abused.

On the other hand, my spiritual practice has helped me become aware that

animals, like humans, have a path to follow and life lessons, and I cannot

control every situation. I have emotion-backed demands that everyone treat

animals the way I think they should be treated. I am learning to let go of

my attachments, which is difficult. However, I can live by example, treating

my animals with kindness and compassion, and I can do my best to educate and

create awareness. Teaching yoga is also a means to help animals and our

environment by raising the consciousness of our communities.

Sat Nam Pam,

Profoundly stated. Thank You! Currently I live with 2 dogs 3 cats 2 geckos

and a baby crow. I rescue animals on a regular basis and struggle with the

issues you mentioned. I can't save them all but I will do what I can. They

say until you've loved an animal a part of your soul remains unawakened. I

know this is true because animals have opened my heart in ways that many

humans will never experience. Keep up the good work! Hope to see you at

Solstice.
