Guest guest
Now that summer's coming up, I have a question about the yogic light summer diet. Is vinegar damaging to the body at all? I eat alot of salads in the summer with a homemade vinegar/mustard/olive oil dressing, and wonder if it has any negative affects on the joints, lightness of body etc. in such daily quantities. Guest guest
Dear Krishan Shiva Kaur, HA! You've kind of stumped me on this one... I vaguely recall Yogi Ji having said that enough vinegar STOPS the digestive process, so I don't know that it would be such a great idea to use vinegar and oil dressing, especially every day. However, if the diet includes specific recipes with measured quantities, logic would suggest that you'll be OK. If n recipes, I'd just go easy on the vinegar... gs Guruprem Singh ('GS') Khalsa 408-396-7249 cell, 24 hrs. Guest guest
I have been taking a tablespoon of oil and vinigar (already mixed) just before I start sadhana. I use a nutrient oil. I usually try to avoid drinking water too. I learned this at teacher training when I got constipated drinking quarts of the stuff they give you to keep you from becoming dehydrated because of the high altitude in New Mexico. I feel less awake when my bowel don't move. They actually move plenty, but I just feel better with a constant flow. It is solid, but floats. This way I have a bowel movement right after Sadhana. In Chinese medicine, the at is the large intenstines and lung time. The vinegar and oil mixture is a bit hard on my throat so I am having second thoughts. I am using Bragg's vinigar with the mother. Maybe I'll dilute it more. I also have been doing an occasional vinigar and water douche and I rinse my hair with vinigar. So I really like the stuff. I wonder why? I don't have to use any hair product if I just shampoo with baby shampoo and then rinse with diluted vinegar. I am wary of commercial products and I feel that my skin likes it. I think it has something to do with the Ph level. If my vaginal wall is in good shape, all of my skin feels great. > >
Guest guest
This vinegar and oil gets the colon moving. I was taught this at teacher training, so it must be yogic??? You are probably right. I shouldn 't use it all the time. Too much of anything is not good. - <khalsayogi <Kundaliniyoga> Cc: <khalsayogi Friday, May 10, 2002 7:52 PM RE: Vinegar - Sattvic / Rajasic / Tamasic?? > Dear Krishan Shiva Kaur, > > HA! Guest guest
Dear Krishan, White vinegar is damaging. Apple cider vinegar is healthy. There have even been books written about the benefits of apple-cider-vinegar. Most popularly taken with honey. - - - 1 tbsp vinegar, 1tbsp honey into an 8 oz glass of water - upon rising and can be drunk throughout the day. - The proportions can be changed according to your preferance. -- Very refreshing in Summer. -- Supposed to also help digestion etc. etc. ---- Just stay away from white vinegar and anything made with it. Guest guest
Rolling Thunder (Shoshone Shaman) took slices of onion and cider vinegar everyday. He swore by it. But if you have a Vata imbalance, creaky joints and bloating being just 2 indications of such, you want to avoid anything that has been fermented. That's includes bread (yeast) and even tofu. You need to determine some things about your constitution and so may be you want to learn about the Doshas (Kapha, Pitta, Vatta). Do a search or but a book. Good authors are David Frawley, Robert Svoboda, and Vasant Lad, to mention a few. Go organic in whatever choice you make. Dharam Ruth and John Dean wrote: > Dear Krishan, White vinegar is damaging.
