Guest guest
Dear Seva Simran Singh, Sat Nam. Ah... somehow I KNEW you'd be asking that! The "Rocketship High" set MAY be what I call a "concocted" set, put together by one of Yogi Ji's very early followers, such as Sukhmandir Singh of Salinsa, CA, who was with Yogi Ji at the VERY beginning, when he used to teach KILLER (extremely HARD) sets. I do not know if the set was actually taught by Yogi Bhajan. All I know is that it "got me off!" when I did it. It involved a LOT of breath of fire in stretch pose -- many minutes! Unfortunately, I will have to dig around in my 180 boxes of notes and whatnot in order to find it! That's why I direct you to Sukhmandir Singh himself, as he was the one who taught the set to me. The "Meditation on the Sun" set WAS taught by Yogi Ji, and was passed along to a yoga class at Pitzer College in Claremont, California in 1972 by Gurucharan Singh. (Which is why I refer you to HIM for details.) Still, if memory serves... 1) Ideally the meditation is to be done at noon on Summer Solstice. It MUST be done OUTSIDE, on a clear sunny day. 2) Short of 1), it can be done with lesser effect at noon any day, but it would be best to do it some time in the summer months. 3) The meditation should be preceded by a good solid "warm up set" with plenty of spine flexing and lots of breath of fire. The aura should be expanded and "charged" before the meditation begins. 4) At the very beginning of the meditation and throughout, the student is required to make a triangle out of his or her index fingers and thumbs, where the hands are raised so that sunlight goes through the triangle directly to the Ajna (6th) chakra. 5) FOR A SPLIT SECOND ONLY, one is to look directly at the Sun, capture a mental image of its position and its power, and then hold that image throughout the rest of the meditation. OBVIOUSLY ONE MUST BE CAREFUL WITH THIS MEDITATION!!! The eyes are to be open for only a blink or two. If one stares continuously at the sun, BLINDNESS will almost certainly result. Makes sure everyone CLOSES their eyes after the first couple of seconds!!! 6) The breath associated with the Sun is the "finger breath," 4 times powerfully on the inhale, followed by a powerful exhale totalling the same number of counts. The finger breath is a SHORT and very powerful inhale through the nose, where you can think of the breath as only going "a finger's length" into the breathing passage each time it is done. 7) No particular mantra was given. Just concentrate on the breath. 8) All throughout, consider the power and the majesty of the Sun, which has provided life-giving energy to every creature on Earth for millions and millions of years... You can think of the Sun as a very senior representative of God... 9) After ten minutes or so, one will begin to feel a distinct tingling throughout the body. The tingling will intensify more or less continuously throughout the remainder of the meditation. It gets quite INTENSE, so make sure everyone is prepared for a rather wild ride... 10) At the end of 31 minutes, inhale deeply and hold briefly, then exhale and relax. Then STAY ABSOLUTELY STILL and just enjoy the bliss of the essence of Solar Power for 5 or 10 minutes after. Once the tingling subsides, it is time to conclude with some general body movement to make sure everyone's astral body is "back inside" their physical. That's about it. It's pretty incredible, and no one who does it sincerely can fail to be powerfully affected by it... Have fun! gs Guruprem Singh ('GS') Khalsa 408-396-7249 cell, 24 hrs.
