Guest guest
http://www.vedanet.com/ Will get your feet wet if you don't know too much about Ayurveda. It is the internet home of Dr. David Frawley. I have dabbled in Ayurvedic enough to recognize that much of what Yogiji has been teaching us since 1969 comes right out of this system. Now it is not so mysterious but rather like common sense. Start with the article entitled "The Ayurvedic Affects of Asana Practice, from Yoga For Your Type". It gives a basic description of the Doshas plus a bunch more........a whole bunch more! A number of good articles plus a correspondence course in Ayurvedic medicine Sat Nam, Dharam
Guest guest
Are you saying that if we understood the Ayurvedic system (more) that we would have an easier time selecting kriya for specific problems? The problem in understanding for me seems to be the layout of the system. It is not the same as the Chinese system that I know, and I am confused by it. Guru Chandran of Espanola (the chiropracter) criticizes Ayurvedic medicine saying that it is not meant for householders. Do you know anything about this? I get mixed messages and I am confused by them.
Guest guest
Hi Ellen, I am just another student of Ayurveda who is wanting to share some recent discoveries. My life has been transformed by the guidance I have gotten from Yogiji and Gurucahran......things I could never have prescribed for myself. I have always wondered how with one glance a Master can know so well what my psyche needed to do in order to get unstuck and move on. My search in the area of Ayurveda is part of my wanting to understand. And maybe in understanding my own story well enough I can help another in their search. On another front, Yogiji isn't very available to folks anymore and so one has to look elsewhere for certain kinds of understanding. It is good to pick a yoga set that feels good but what you may need to grow may not so obvious. Yogiji has said that balancing the tatvas and vayus is what defines happiness. Please read on. Simply reading of well written Ayurvedic texts can be transformative (now that you know that, you may have resistance). The many articles here are merely to nourish the mind and feed the spirit. Maybe I shouldn't have pointed to a particular article. Yogiji has taught so much more than Kriyas. As a matter of personal experience, watching Yogiji work and counsel has been an eye-opener. He is talking much more than yoga. There is some much at this site. Take the time if you have it. While in India I bought as many titles by Frawley as I could find. > The > problem in understanding for me seems to be the layout of the system. > It is > not the same as the Chinese system that I know, and I am confused by > it. Don't be confused. Stay with the Chinese system if it works for you. Remember that the concepts of Chi and Prana are identical. I understand the meridian system to an extent but don't really have a feeling for much else (I can become confused about the Chinese as well). I just figure that if I've been doing Kundalini since '77 that maybe I should expend my efforts looking into something that comes from where the yoga come from. It really does make sense but ...........and is worth the effort. I hear so many questions that folks can answer for themselves with much more understanding, if they take the time. > Guru Chandran of Espanola (the chiropracter) criticizes Ayurvedic > medicine > saying that it is not meant for householders. Guru Chander speaks with power but it is easy to feel that anything coming from the Orient (Asiatic) doesn't work with the West especially if someone in that system came to town and advised a bunch of vegetarian Sikhs to have chicken soup (Espanola has a little history). Do your own studies and don't listen to remarks in passing. Yogiji uses Ayurveda and Chinese medicine. Once you get past the "system", you can understand all because it is merely an approach.....another ladder to the roof and once you're on the roof, you don't need the ladder. Once we get to the roof is be humble and not argue about systems and religion and who's God is better. Be Well, Dharam
