Christine for two and a half years I have struggled with my husband first

distain and now distance from my practice of yoga and healing activities.

We just finished folding my newly washed turban cloth, so he has come a long

way.

At teacher training Yogi Bajhan told a story about two frogs. The story was

in response to my questions to Yogi Bhajan regarding my husband's

intolerance toward yoga. I explained that my husband is such a good person

that I think of him as a saint. He is just very disturbed by my turban and

my practice of sadhana. Yogi Bhajan qualified his story saying it was not

directly about my husband.

There were two frogs sitting near a path. A saint came by and spit. The

spit landed on the backs of the two frogs. One frog went hopping into the

bushes screaming in a frog like way, "I've been spit upon." He rolled in

the dirt and tried to wipe the spit off. A snake came along and gulped him

down. The second frog hopped into the lily pond. He sat on a lily pad and

chanted "wahe guru" "I've been touched by a saint" "Wahe guru." Then, a

fish swam by and gulped that frog down.

At first I thought that my huband was the frog eaten by the snake. Recently

I have come to realize that most of us are both frogs. Sometimes like Job

of the Old Testament, we scream out "Why me? What did I deserve to receive

this kind of fate?" At other times, we realize that every bit of life is a

blessing of the same magnitude and we sing out "Wahe guru" with every breath

that we breathe. We don't have to be chanting. My husband, for example is

kind, gentle and good to others. He is expressing wahe guru in his actions.

The quality of our live is dependent on how much time we spend being which

frog. In any case, we die.
