Guest guest
Dear Christine & everyone, On the general subject of cat & dogs & meditation... Cats, dogs, and most "higher" animals (horses) are exquisitely sensitive! When we "tune in" and generally advertise that we are about to "raise our energy" they generally come running... They know intuitively that "something's going on" and want to be near it. The thing you have to consider is that their involvement is on a relatively primitive level -- they just want to "soak it up"... If you are comfortable with that and are willing to share your energy with them, then fine, no problem. Otherwise, with all possible knidness, you might want to consider putting them in another room and closing the door. They will be none the worse for it, and you'll be able (selfishly?) to enjoy the full benefit of whatever it is you're doing. The point is, they just want to be involved because the energy is powerful, and that's what they're all about. Gurucharan Singh tells a story of how once when he decided to meditate outside (at Hargobind Sadan in Pomona, Calif.) how within seconds of his starting that a HUGE neighborhood dog came running and actually knocked him over! I think it was from that point onward that he decided to meditate in the Sadhana Room! gs Guruprem Singh ('GS') Khalsa 408-396-7249 cell, 24 hrs. Guest guest
Sat Nam, Yes, cantankerous animals usually half to be locked up and children have to be taught to respect your privacy in respect to spiritual practice. There was an interesting exception for me however, which proves the point that there is an exception to every rule. I once owned a wizard dog (really!). Sometimes when I was doing yoga he would jump on me and I soon realised it was because I didn't need more yoga, I needed more play. But it was when I was meditating that he proved who he was. He would walk into the room, flop down beside me, gently lift one paw and put it across my foot. I would instantly be transported to some completely other realm of consciousness, a completely transcendent one. Go figure!!!!!!!!! Life is a gas when you're on the path. Guest guest
Diane, Have your cat examined by a vet, it could be a medical problem. An animal communicator told me that inappropriate urination (ruling out health problems) is caused by anger. Sat Nam, Pam
Guest guest
The strangest thing my cat ever did while I was doing yoga was sit behind me and urinated on the mat that I was sitting on. I didn't realise until I actually was proceeding to lie down on my back and put my elbows in it. I could never understand why he did this but it is starting to maybe make some sense to me now. He also likes to urinate at different places throughout the house even though he has fresh litter all the time? Sometimes he will use it and other times he won't. Depends on his mood I suppose. Guest guest
GS I can't agree with you more, fortunately my cat only likes the mantras, when I'm done he gets ont he bed and either quietly watches me or falls asleep. It doesn't bother me at all, I enjoy their presence in my life. But I have been raised in a harmony with all life, animals (including talking monkeys) and trees. My grandfather was Algonquin and my father part Iroquois, the planet and all life on it equal. -cris walk in harmony
Guest guest
i have rescued 53 cats and they live with us. thet are very happy and free. when i do my yoga they surround the mat. when i meditate some of them sit around me and seem to be so blissful. they do respond differently to different chants. the best is how they respond to essential oils and incense. when i run a lavendar bath the same 6 run to the side of the tub, breathe and stretch out on the flor or rim of the tub. they seem to be more naturally aware then we. peace susan remember the earth was not given to you by your parents it was lent to you by your children

Guest guest
Susan, I have one dog. I started a new sadhana this morning and after licking my face, she plopped down in the middle of my lap. It does make focusing on the toes a bit more of a challenge. Last night, we had a small earthquake and she knew long before I felt it. She was whining and growling. I thought she was having a bad dream until the bed started to shake. Your words could not be more correct: >they seem to be more naturally aware then we. >peace >susan Sat Nam, Karen _______________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. Guest guest
I am sure my cat is angry at me because I am not petting her as much as before. Her body langage is very clear. - <PamENixon <Kundaliniyoga> Monday, May 13, 2002 2:35 AM Re: Re: sacred space for [animals]? > Diane, > > Have your cat examined by a vet, it could be a medical problem.
