sat nam, yogis and yoginis!

well, after 11 consecutive days of Sat Kriya, i had to drop the ball due to

a monster migraine attack. i get them every few months it seems, and it was

a really bad one. i was out of commission for a couple days, just now

feeling okay. maybe tomorrow i will up for beginning my next attempt at a

40-day practice... but i want to feel plenty rested and on top of wellness

before i venture back in...

Sat Nam elle-

Condolences.....I had severe migraines for 13 years

that took 3 days once or twice a month from

me.....finally I think for me it was a food

connection,

after eliminating sweets altogether, ( which includes

chocolate).....I have been migraine free..

Elle-

I completely understand how you feel. I had migranes for about 12

years or so. Most of the time my only remedy was to go into a room

that had very little, if any, light or sound coming in and just

sleep. (of course sleep wasn't always convenient) After about 2-3

hours, I would wake up and the migrane was gone. Although mentally I

was always a little 'fuzzy' for about an hour after the sleep. It was

always the strangest sleep too, never any dreams, but much deeper

than I sleep any other time. I can't explain it. Mine were hormonal

related. I rarely get them anymore since I had my first child. But

everyone once in awhile I'll get a doozy come on.

The last time I felt one starting (last month) I actually tried

something that Gururattan suggested to Brad. He was having problems,

I believe, with a lot of pressure/energy in his head from meditating.

(Brad please correct me if I'm wrong). She suggested

focusing/channeling the energy through the 6th chakra. I'm not sure

I'm explaining this correctly. But what I did, upon reading it, was

started breathing long and deep. When I would exhale, I would imagine

I was exhaling through my 6th chakra. Essentially blowing the pain

out the window, to put it a bit more bluntly. But it actually worked

for me. I noticed a difference on the very first breath. I could feel

less pressure in my head. It didn't get rid of it, but after several

minutes, it reduced the intesity to a regular headache (and for me,

those are cake to deal with it). Someone else had posted a link to a

mudra for migranes (you may want to search back a couple of weeks).

Perhaps combining the breathing/visualization with the mudra would

have even more of an effect on the migrane. I don't know though. I

didn't know about the mudra when I was doing the breathing, so I

never tried it myself.

Just a thought.

Sat Nam Christa, Ellen,

"She suggested

focusing/channeling the energy through the 6th chakra." Gururattan advised me

on

a Tratakam meditation that I was doing. I learned the channelling technique

from

another Guru Rattan, coincidentally. Often when Kundalini builds there is a

"full head" feeling and this 3rd eye technique works well. I've

relieved a couple of K related headaches that way.

It could be a much more powerful tool, for other problems too, like

migraines.

Blessings

Brad
