gates/subtle body/soul

SAT NAM,

Can somebody give details about

1. What are gates? How many gates are there and their

significance.? I just know about the Tenth gate or the

solar centre.

2. I have heard that when soul leaves the body it has

to pass through the subtle body. Where does it go from

there? Can we see our subtle body? I know we can see

auras but subtle body and how is it different from

aura?

3.I know its kinda of funny but I am curious to know

how a soul looks like..?

I have written about the gates in the first part of my book Your Life Is in

Your Chakras. www.yogatech.com.

My understanding is that there are 3 major ones dealing with physical,

emotional and mental alignment. Then there is the 10th gate. Interesting

it is called the 10th gate.

This would be the spiritual alignment.

The traditional explanation of the "tenth gate" is a reference to the ten holes,

the tenth being the crown chakra where one connects with the

heavenly environment. Of course this terms is also somewhat patriarchal and

comes from the yoga culture that excluded women, because of course

woman have 11. The idea is that the behaviour of the other holes have to be

curtailed by the yogi while the crown has to be activated. In surat

shabd yoga, for instance, all the gates are closed and the energy of

consciousness is focused on the light of the crown chakra.
