Guest guest
I honestly see Kali as all things. But like Hecate, Chinnamasta, Bagalamukhi, Sekhmet and many others she is considdered dark. Not just by their color I mean Bagala is yellow but I mean how they are not like a constant Kwan Yin. Ok this is how I can explain it here are 2 examples a child misbehaves badly and a light mother will tell them hon youre doing something wrong please stop it there. Whereas a dark mother would whack the kid upside the head and say hey wake the hell up! And she might even take privledges off them as well. A light mother would be seen as cool headed like the Santarian Yemaya and Oya who is "dark" is seen as hot. Yet Yemaya can loose her temper but she is not as likley to loose it as Oya would. I see Kali as calm as well as fierce. She gives birth to her children and yet she devours them. For me Kali is the ultimate and I am extremly dedicated to her. Your view of her is not wrong its your view and thats how Kali comes to you. For me I worship that lovley fierce and wild goddess that is my Mother Kali. Just my view. Guest guest
Wow! It is rare for me to see a person compare Kali to Yemoja/Oya! Very cool. Good comparison. I am a Kali devotee as well as an Orisha priest. Nice to meet you! Guest guest
Greetings, Female nature is black. You have an enormous table of comparison about this argument, with all the spiritual system in the world... For example in China's Taoism Yin is the black female force, the void; in Hebrew Qabalah, Binah (intuitive Understanding in opposition with rational Knowledge) is the female emanation of Kether and her colour is black, and so on... Kali is not an exception: she is black or dark or simply Kali. This is the thruth, but thruth is white... and she is not important. P.S. About the tread "Kali's tongue symbolism" i'll answer just i'll come back from holidays. All the best. Vincenzo - jai_ma_kali Kali_Ma Friday, August 20, 2004 2:46 AM Re: Kali as 'dark'? Guest guest
That's how I am chosen to be for the lack of better words. Kali chose me I did not choose Kali....I thought I would never really care about the Hindu pantheon as I had no real interest well look at me now! Im also trying to figure out where to put the Lakshmi alter. As for Santaria and Voodou I was exposed to it back in the very early 90's and I have been studying it ever since. I went to many rituals that were preformed by a lady named Madisen aka Dead Boy then I met up with a Santero and other practioners of Santaria. So I accepted the Orishas and the Loas. So again im pleased to meet you as well Kerry Jai Ma! Kalimir~Kalamere KalimirKerry <kalimaa99 > wrote: jai_ma_kali <jai_ma_kali > wrote: Wow! Then you leave out the rest of the manifest Universe, which She is. Kali the icon is dark due to the mythological record. Kali the Mahashakti is dark because the Universe is mostly empty space, and that space which is filled is filled with everything, good and bad. Kali as the primary manifesting force is entirely responsible for everything that happens, good or bad, which themselves are entirely relative. That's what the icon tries to convey. You've got the boon side and the bust side. A devotee's surrender may result in Her bliss ascending up your spine, but that's no free pass on the rest of Her activity. Beliving She will protect you may allow you to feel secure in your life, but I'm afraid it is no act of surrender to Her for you to do so. --jody.
