One should celeberate naga panchami according to his family tradition. However,

the following mantras can be used for worship, irrespective of tradition:

The following 11 mantras can be used either for prostrations (namaskaaras) or

while feeding the snakes:

Those who have killed snakes will definitely suffer from diseases. To atone for

their sin, such people should chant the mantra:

jnaanatO ajnaanathO vaapi Krtha sarpa vaDhO mama |

poorva janmanivaa sarpanthE thath sarpam KShanthumarhasi ||

(10,000 times)

Those who have severe family problems, divorce, non-cordial relationship with

the spouse, brothers, relatives and friends etc should chant the following

mantra:

(4000 times)

Childless couples (both) should chant the following mantra:

anantha sarpa raaja tvam putra pautra samanvitham |

aputrasya chE mE putra sampadancha kuru praBho ||

(12,000 times)

Those who frequently see cobras and other snakes either in

dreams or in reality, or whose house is frequented by snakes should chant the

following mantra:

jarathkaarO jalathkaarO aastheekah pannamEva cha |

aastheekah sathya sanDhoomaam pannagEBhyO hi rakShathu ||

(12,000 times)

OR

Narmadhaayaei namah praathah narmadaayaei navO niShi |

namOsthu narmadhE thuBhyam thraahimaam viSha sarpathah ||

(12,000 times)

All rituals and mantras yield full result only when a Braahman bachelor (vedic

student) is invited home and offered food, clothes and money. He should be

treated as Lord Naagaraja himself.
