Guest guest
Kali is more than just the Crone. Even at her Croney-est (as Chamunda, demon-eater,wrinkled and emaciated, with skeletal limbs and hanging dugs) Kali is more than just the Crone. BUT -- when portrayed in the Tri-Shakti (the energies of Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshvara), well, Lakshmi is the ever-giving abundant Mother; Sarasvati is the averse-to-marriage, wisdom-inspiring Maiden; which leaves Kali with... the Crone. Just limiting things to Shiva-Shakti, Durga is both warrior and eternal virgin; Parvati is Tantric Consort and Ganesha's Mommy (despite being forever, like, teenaged); Kali is it all wrapped in one -- berserker warrior, dominatrix consort, Mother Death (and Rebirth)...
