Narada Bhakti Sutra - Verse 2- A discussion

Namsate Nurcarnation,

Namaste ji, thank you very much again for your explanation ji.

All by Maa bleesing alone , I am only Her instrument thus thank Her.

Correct me if I am wrongji. We must show only true love to the Supreme Being.

This is where I will always get stuck as I have cultivated myself to learn to

give only conditional love i.e. expect something whenever I love something. I

expect love from my children, husband and others whenever i show love towards

them.I think i have treated mother the same.HOW DO I CHANGE ji? What shall I do

to cultivate only pure love towrds her with no expectations?

Well please do not be so hard on yourself my dear . It is ok to be self centered

( it is the begining of good end) but you must thank Maa for being aware of it

because through awareness comes realization .A lot of them in this world do not

even realize that they are cultivating some form of expectation in prayers .

That is a lot more worse. They even think the more they offfer to Maa the more

they are closer to Her . Some think God is limited like us that we have to do

something they like in order to make them happy.Some offer fruit , some offer

leaves some offer blood but Maa never expect anything from anybody .We must

learn to love Her for Her sake .You see nowdays a lot think to do away with

this material world for spiritual world but that is not true .Even in this

world you could spirtualize your life .The answer is within you my dear .The

answer is they way you treat your life , they way you treat others.

Now how is this relevant to this question ? Remember you mentioned there is a

limitation that even when you love your family members friends and others. Try

slowly everyday to break this limitation. Dont start treating all you close one

specially only but start treating everbody special as if they are your close

ones.This will slowly break the barrier you are facing in attaining

unconditional love for all with no expectation. The sages also found this

difficult but they realise that Maa is within everybody and they started to

treat and love the Maa within everbody and to be of service to Her . Swami

Vivekanandaji Maharaj calls this the Darinarayana Seva .Realise the material

life is also srtuctured in such a way.First you have one mother than you get

married and have one child .Then the child gets married and gives you

grandchild than that grandchild gets married and gives you another child. If

you lived long enough all will be your child and the entire world would have

been your family.When you have lived for 500 years would not the whole country

be your family members . Thus you must learn to expand your love for all to

break the expecataion you have . Treat all son like your son, treat mothers

like you mothers ,treat all like your dear one and your love for the universe

expands . That it breaks it limitation by itself It will manifest to Supreme

Love . To break the limitation go further to be of help to the poor, handicap,

retarded they are all Her childrens as well as yours and my family members love

them as if they are of your ownYou will see that expectation disspear and only

love will be in your heart. You will see Maa the antaryamin(dweller within) in

all. Then you will not ask what She could do for you love but what your love

could for Her........

So the key word is be of service to others ,you could call it whatever name you

like karma yoga , narayana seva , social service but all you do as your love

for Maa within all.This is the first step. Now as for your question how to

cultivate devotion -you are learning this and will learn them further in this

discussion and by the time we finish the sutras I beleive you will know few

ways

>Ji, you have mention about " with form and without form", I am not very well

versed with this. Can you please explain further on how this happens.

God is with form,formless and also beyond.

Whatever form that we perceive is only because our limited mind have perceived

Him as such and He is manifesting in that form because of His love for us . We

call him she , he , it because that is the form mind perceives him. Mind can

only perceive what it has learnt or experinced but various forms are His and

not all is known by our mind. The sages realised this and said Neti! Neti !,

meaning Not That !Not That ! as all form are only his limited perception.That

is why they use the word tvam or in english "thou" and we say tat tvam asi

meaning " thou art that". We do not define God as this and that as the true

devotee knows Her can be with form without form and also beyond that. This do

not happen but it is his true reality . He manifest as all form of living and

he manifest the more in human. He manifest more in sages and saints and

manifest wholly in realized soul. Yet he is beyond all limitation. He could

become without form and also be with form as for his devotees sake. That is why

Sage Narada calls him Him and not defining it . Her ,Him ,it, God , Bhagawan

infact all type of word limits his true nature ..........We can go more on this

if the need be but you will understand this anyway when you go nearer to Her

...................

Yes I have been following up the matter . The puja Srihraji have covered for

you is the preliminary for those who are not ready to go into PROPER puja as of

yet . IF you like to learnt the proper method than you could request from

Srihraji as he is learned in both method -the basic as well as proper.
