Guest guest
Hello, everybody, On Monday our next door neighbors' three Rottweilers had attacked one of them and the mother of the owner who was babisitting their 2 years old toddler. The neighbor from the other side jumped over the fence, and saved that lady's life. However, since she is the family member and would not press charges, the Animal Control had released the dogs, and we have no rights or options to protect ourselves other than wait until something like that happens again. We are terrified, and my question is how do we protect ourselves? Does anybody know or have any advice? As far as KY concerned or any other, all your thoughs are welcome. Guest guest
Hello Agali, You should not have to live in fear. It is never a good scene when people have dogs that are not handled properly. Laws are very different in every locality. Cities are stricter than rural areas. Call your local Animal Control or Humane Society. Request a copy of the Animal Control and Protection ordinances for your area. Know who has enforcement authority. In most areas, there are leash laws. This means that the animals must be properly controlled or confined at all times. My concern for you and your family is the height and quality of the fence and are the dogs under the owner's control at all times. To help with your fear. Keep in mind that these instances generally occur due to mishandled circumstances. However, they can occur and not everyone is up on the nuances of dog psychology. And their neighbors shouldn't need to be. Teach your children, and you, to totally ignore the dogs. Not fear them, just totally ignore them. Do not stare at the dogs out of fear, don't point them out or look at them suspiciously out of the corner of your eye. Don't walk cautiously with an irregular gait when they are out. Just ignore them, act normal and go about your business on your own property. You will probably never know what provoked the incident. It makes me sad as a supporter of fine animals to hear of such happenings. -Heidi agali <agali Kundaliniyoga <Kundaliniyoga> Friday, June 07, 2002 9:49 AM Aggressive Dogs and our protection - URGENT! >Hello, everybody, > >On Monday our next door neighbors' three Rottweilers had attacked one of them and the mother of the owner who was babisitting their 2 years old toddler.
