Guest guest
Sat Nam. I've been practicing kundalini yoga for almost 5 years and am a recoveriog herion addict with 20 months clean. I've put my HepC into remission through breath work and herbal liver cleansing, Kundalini has saved my life and has been the perfect support for my 12 step program. My question is about the lower back pain I've been experiencing. Camel ride seems to make it worse and I can't do stretch pose without my hands supporting my lower back. Any suggestions on other postures to strengthen my lower back?

Guest guest
Hi, Cowgirl, I've had chronic lower back pain for over six years and have been practicing KY for 15 months. One of my favorite kriyas is nabhi kriya. In case you haven't done it before, it's challenging (I'm still working up to the recommended times for each part) but it sure strengthens the navel point and, by turn, the lower back. I do this kriya about once a week, and my back is definitely less painful and more flexible since I started. Spinal flexibility sets have also helped. I hear what Brad says about using folded towels to support the lumbar area while doing stretch pose. I do something similar, and it really helps ... not to mention that it leaves my arms and hands free to do whatever is recommended for them in the pose.
