First, welcome cowgirl and Sat Nam

It takes a lot of determination to do an about face like that. I have no

doubt

the KY played a major role, and I bet many on this board can relate.

"through breath work", that means BOF too? Your a walking talking

endorsement!:-)

"lower back pain I've been experiencing"- I have same problem with lower

lumbars,

I've been doing stretch pose for about 1.5 every morn. Stretch pose will

strengthen

your abdominals to help your back, but I use the edge of 3 folded towels to

support my lumbars when I do it. But I've gotten results, it works.

"Camel ride seems to make it worse"-Can you do CatCow instead? I also do hatha

front bending asana and just hang, its helped it really loosens the lower back

area. Also do Sun Salutes. I used to get slipped discs, but since

I began focusing alot of attention on my back I don't have a problem anymore.

I'm still aware when my back is at risk though, and I always

remember to tighten my abs when I am moving in a way that may injure my back.

"and I can't do stretch pose without my hands supporting my lower back."

try something folded, rolled doesn't work. I you use the edge of some towels or

a thin blanket, it will support you in stretch pose. When I'm

doing stretch, I always focus on my navel center, because there's a tendency for

me to tighten my butt and try to use other muscles to help. I

always come back to the navel, thats really helped me alot. The lumbars and the

abs are connected in a way (I believe) so that if you can help a

'bad' back by strengthening your abs.

Blessings

Brad
