Guest guest
Linda- Well said. And I completely agree. I'm finally feeling like I'm on the right path with KY and where it is leading me. My on-going question to myself, though, is how to instill faith and a sense of spirituality in my children. My daughter enjoys doing yoga with me. I hope that, as they get older, they will learn to search inside themselves. However, If they prefer to attend church, I won't stop them. If they feel that need and that gives them a sense of peace, then good for them. But I will make sure that they have an open environment in which to search and discover for themselves what they need or find fulfilling. Until they are old enough to understand, I'll stick to 'teaching' them what feels right to me, which is yoga, meditation (for my daughter, my sons are much too young for that yet) and volunteer work. I'm excited about the volunteer work. Saturday was our (my daughter and I) first day volunteering at a retirement home down the road. She really enjoyed it and didn't want to leave. We go back again this Saturday. This is our first volunteer effort, but I really felt good about it. Sat Nam Christa

The best way to "teach" anything is to live what you believe in..it is sort of imprinted on the children. I have just one daughter, her father is very Catholic and goes to church every Sunday.....we leave it open for her to go or not..... she chooses not to. We have done volunteer work with the elderly and animals, since she was young, and I try to live a simple, grateful life....I have always been very open with her.......children know when you are not living your truth...she seems to have evolved as wise and caring person......I believe one's spiritual life, is personal, and to be treated that way....I was brought up with no religion but as a child was always searching for that connection with God. .which has taken me in many directions .....KY is the closest to home that I have felt......my instincts tell me not to worry about my child's spiritual life, it will happen on it's on course, as it is supposed to. Guest guest
Very well said, Linda. That is also the type of 'teaching' that I intend to do with my children. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one heading down that path. Christa
